YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Learn more about the FIAT 500e Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV),Battery electric vehicles (BEV) are fully electric vehicles offering zero-emission driving and powerful performance without the need for fossil fuels. its charging, performance, range, and why it’s perfect for urban mobility thanks to its style, technology, and performance.
BEV stands for Battery Electric Vehicle. BEVs run solely on electricity. They are fully electric vehicles with rechargeable batteries, and no gasoline engine. All energy to run the vehicle comes from the battery pack, which is recharged from the grid by plugging in the vehicle.
Battery electric vehicles, or BEVs, use electricity stored in a battery pack to power an electric motor and turn the wheels. When depleted, the batteries are recharged using grid electricity, either from a wall socket or a dedicated charging unit.

BEVs are powered entirely by electricity, relying solely on battery power, which means that a BEV doesn’t have a fuel tank or an exhaust pipe. Instead, it has one or more electric motors powered by a larger onboard battery. Users charge the battery at home, or at public charging stations.

A Hybrid vehicle does not plug in to recharge the battery; instead, it continuously recharges the battery through the use of regenerative braking and the operation of the engine.

In addition to regenerative braking and gas engine charging, a Plug‑In Hybrid (PHEV) battery can be recharged by plugging it in. A PHEV also has a larger battery capacity than a typical Hybrid vehicle, and can therefore drive in zero‑emission electric mode for longer before the combustion engine takes over. This results in lower tailpipe emissions overall than a regular Hybrid vehicle.

The total range of a BEV depends on the vehicle’s total battery capacity and the driver’s style of driving. According to preliminary data, with a fully charged battery the FIAT® 500e BEV can drive up to 240 km – more than enough for a road trip or your average day to day driving needs.
The time it takes to charge your FIAT® 500e BEV depends on how much charge is currently in your battery, and the charging method you choose. Charging from 40% to 100% through a Level 1 a standard household outlet typically takes the longest (around 9 hours); faster charging can occur using the available, professionally installed Level 2 charging station (around 2 hours and forty minutes). For the fastest charge possible, use the available Level 3 Direct Current (DC) charging cable at a commercial charging station (up to 80% charge in 35 minutes).
Regularly charging your FIAT® BEV is the best way to optimize your vehicle’s performance, and help you to enjoy more emission‑free electric driving. Follow the recommendations in your owner’s manual for optimal charging frequency.

New tools for locating charging stations are becoming available every day. You can use this handy charging station locator map, by clicking on the link below:

https://openchargemap.org/site

And don’t forget – you can always use the included Level 1 charger to charge your FIAT® BEV using any available, standard three‑prong outlet, if a commercial charging station is not available nearby.

The cost to charge an electric vehicle is influenced by a variety of factors including the size and capacity of the vehicle’s battery, the local price of electricity, the time of day, and the amount of kilowatt‑hours required. Therefore, different electric vehicles will have different annual charging costs based on your driving habits and your location.

To reduce charging costs, consider recharging your vehicle at night when electricity demand is lower, and rates may be reduced.

Great news – Level 2 charging cables are universal, meaning that your existing PHEV and your new FIAT® BEV can both use the same professionally installed home charging station to charge up. You will not need to install separate docks for each vehicle enabled with Level 2 charging.
Depending on your location and the specific vehicle, the FIAT 500e BEVBattery electric vehicles (BEV) are fully electric vehicles offering zero-emission driving and powerful performance without the need for fossil fuels. may qualify for up to $5000 in federal rebates and up to $7000 in provincial rebates. These rebates can provide significant savings on the purchase or lease of a new electric vehicle.
Eligibility for rebates and incentives for the purchase or lease of an electrified vehicle varies according to your location and the type of vehicle you are purchasing. Your FIAT® dealership can help you determine the maximum rebates and incentives you qualify for, or you can explore federal incentives on the iZEV website, or check out your provincial rebate program for more information.

Visit the iZEV website
Your BEV follows roughly the same maintenance schedule as a gas‑powered vehicle, and will not need to be serviced more often. In fact, since a BEV won’t need services like oil changes, and has fewer moving mechanical parts that can experience wear and tear compared to a gas vehicle, you may need fewer maintenance visits overall. Therefore, you can expect an equivalent cost for maintaining your BEV.
Yes it can, depending on your driving habits, and how frequently you recharge the battery. Not using gasoline or diesel means that battery electric cars are not consuming fuel, therefore saving you money on total fuel costs. Also, the cost of electricity per kilometre is typically much lower than that of gasoline. For illustrative purposes, a BEV costs about 3 to 4 ¢/km (at 15 ¢/kWh), compared to a typical 4‑cylinder gasoline vehicle at 11 to 12 ¢/km (at $1.50/L).

The costs of owning an electric vehicle are predictable, and are more or less equivalent to what you would expect from a gas-powered vehicle.

There are also potential savings associated with a battery electric vehicle (based on your driving habits). For example, driving with battery power requires no gasoline, so there is no spending on fuel. The general costs of owning an electrified vehicle are based on:

  • charging costs (local electricity rates, home charging station installation)
  • maintenance costs (regular scheduled maintenance, repair costs)
  • insurance costs

The short answer is NO. In terms of speed and acceleration modern battery electric vehicles perform just as well as traditional gas‑powered vehicles, and often better. For example, BEVs accelerate quicker than gas‑powered cars because electric motors have more overall torque, and can apply 100% of its torque at zero revolutions per minute (rpm). In terms of acceleration, BEVs provide an extraordinary driving experience gas‑powered vehicles simply can’t match.
The number of kilometres your BEV will travel on a full charge before the battery needs to be recharged depends primarily on the vehicle and your driving habits. However, it is typically enough to accomplish an average person’s daily driving needs.

The FIAT® 500e BEV is engineered to work in all kinds of weather conditions. BEV performance depends on many factors, such as the vehicle itself, its potential range in warmer weather, and whether the vehicle’s heat is on. With a little preparation and knowledge, your FIAT 500e BEV will be ready to power through the cold. Here are five super easy tips to help your FIAT go the distance:

  • If possible park your FIAT 500e BEV inside a garage to charge, and turn the heat or air conditioning on while the car is charging – this gives you the maximum charge possible
  • Combine trips, and don’t use the vehicle more than necessary. High speeds and heavy braking impact total driving range
  • Use seat warmers for added body heat. They are a better choice than running high heat through the ventilation system, and will preserve battery life
  • Keep tire pressure high for optimal driving, and to preserve battery power

All of our electric vehicles undergo rigorous testing to ensure the highest safety and performance standards, so you can drive confidently every time you get behind the wheel. For additional cold‑weather performance tips, consult your owner’s manual.

It’s perfectly safe to drive your FIAT® electric vehicle in heavy rain or go through a car wash. BEVs are designed to charge and drive safely in rain and snow. All major electric components of the vehicle are safely and securely tucked away and shielded to prevent injuring the driver and passengers.
All FIAT® Battery Electric Vehicles meet all Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. There is no cause for concern about the safety of driving a BEV any more than driving a gas‑powered vehicle. You should always exercise caution while driving and follow all driving laws, regulations, and safe practices, but the vehicle itself does not pose any additional danger to you.
